2024 Youth Aspire Camp

On April 21, 2024, Roman Boxing Gym’s rising star, Daisy, attended the Women’s Youth Aspire session at the English Institute of Sport (EIS) in Sheffield. This event, organized by England Boxing, brought together 23 young female boxers from various regions, accompanied by their club coaches, for a day dedicated to skill development and networking.

The session focused on refining pre- and post-punching techniques, under the guidance of Pathway Development Coach Kerry Chalk. Participants engaged in activities such as sparring, padwork, and technical drills, all designed to enhance their boxing proficiency. Daisy had the opportunity to spar with three different opponents, gaining valuable experience and insights.

The camp also provided a platform for coaches to collaborate and learn from one another. Roman Boxing Gym coach Darren shadowed other coaches and worked with boxers from different regions, further refining the coaching experience.

Reflecting on the day’s events, Darren emphasized the importance of providing more opportunities for female boxers to gain experience and exposure. He expressed optimism about Daisy’s potential to earn an England vest and compete internationally, suggesting that participating in events like the Winter Box Cup could further her development. Roman Boxing Gym remains committed to supporting its members in reaching their full potential. The club takes pride in fostering an environment where athletes like Daisy can thrive, continually seeking opportunities to challenge and elevate their skills on both national and international stages.
