Roman Boxing Gym’s second home show was another resounding success, with a sold-out crowd of 400 spectators gathering at the stunning Bath Assembly Rooms on the evening of 12th October 2024 to witness an incredible night of boxing. A total of 28 boxers from 16 different clubs took part in 14 well-matched bouts, showcasing the high standard of talent on display.
For some of our Roman boxers, the event marked important milestones in their boxing journeys. Mally stepped into the ring for his first skills bout, while Alfie performed in his very first competitive bout. Ottis, who made his debut last year in a skills bout at our inaugural home show, returned for his second outing in the ring, demonstrating strong progression.

While seven Roman boxers competed on the night, four of our top boxers, Max, Ryan, Daisy, and Terence, were unable to participate due to their National Development Championship bouts scheduled for the following day. We’re determined to ensure this won’t happen in future, and will work to schedule around championships where they would conflict with our show, or host them ourselves, so all Roman Boxing Gym members will have the opportunity to box at our flagship event.

Building on the success of last year’s event, we made key improvements behind the scenes to enhance the experience for both boxers and coaches. The warm-up area was significantly expanded, and access to and from the ring was better structured, ensuring a smoother flow throughout the evening. These changes were well received, with coaches and athletes alike noting the improved layout and organisation.
This year’s show also raised the bar in terms of match quality, with a truly national line-up of talent. We welcomed boxers from Bolton and Guernsey, and competitors from the Royal Navy, establishing our event as a boxing showcase in the region.

The highlight of the evening was the final bout, featuring two elite-level boxers who are both national semi-finalists. Umar Khan from Bolton, a GB Under-19 squad member and national finalist, squared off against Tom Teers from Guernsey, a semi-finalist from the opposite draw. This match-up was a rare opportunity to witness these top-tier boxers meeting in competition, and Bath proved the perfect neutral location to enable these distant clubs to meet.
Another standout bout featured boxer Neo Judge from Torbay taking on Jack Doran from Bolton. Both boxers were ranked in the top five nationally and had previously won the NABGC Championships. These match-ups together with the local talent in the ring ensured an unforgettable night of boxing.
