Job Title: Volunteer Boxing Coach
Location: Roman Boxing Gym, Twerton Park Football Stadium, Bath
Commitment: Part-time, volunteer basis (minimum one evening per week)

About Roman Boxing Gym
Roman Boxing Gym is a registered charity and an England Boxing-affiliated club based at Twerton Park in Bath. We are run entirely by volunteers, with no paid positions at the club. Founded on Boxing Day 2018, we’ve built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality boxing training to everyone from complete beginners to competitive athletes. While we count national and regional champions among our ranks, many of our members train for fitness, enjoyment, and the sense of community we’re proud to foster. We’re a welcoming, community-focused club with a supportive atmosphere, committed to helping people grow both inside and outside the ring. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and ambitious, with a passion for developing not only our boxers, but also the coaches who support them.
Role Overview
We’re looking for committed and enthusiastic Volunteer Boxing Coaches to join our team. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to grow their coaching experience while making a real difference in the local community. Whether you’re already qualified or just starting your coaching journey, you’ll be supported by a friendly and knowledgeable team and given many chances to develop your skills.
We ask that volunteers are able to commit to at least one evening per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in delivering engaging, structured boxing sessions for beginners, fitness-focused members, and competitive boxers alike
- Work alongside senior coaches to mentor and support boxers’ progress
- Create a safe, respectful and motivating training environment for all members
- Help prepare athletes for competition through sparring and technical development
- Support club events and community initiatives

Recent coaching trips have included visits to Spain, Poland and the Czech Republic, as well as spectator experiences at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the Paris Olympics. We believe these experiences help deepen knowledge, broaden horizons, and build strong team bonds by offering a great chance to learn, connect, and be inspired.
Qualifications and Experience
- England Boxing Level One Coaching Qualification (or willingness to work towards it)
- Experience in boxing, either as a participant or coach, is beneficial
- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all boxers
- All volunteers are required to complete safeguarding training and undergo an enhanced DBS check in line with England Boxing guidance
