Roman Boxing Gym has been selected by BOXWISE to be one of the first clubs in the South West to offer their 10 week training program.
BOXWISE is a non-profit social enterprise that helps young people build confidence, improve their health and wellbeing and maximise all opportunities available to them.
Lead by senior coach Darren Sullivan, Roman Boxing Gym will deliver the BOXWISE syllabus over 10 weeks commencing Friday 6th May and running until Friday 15th July to those aged 8-14. Boxing training will be delivered as usual during these sessions, BOXWISE additionally brings structured discussion of several important topics over the 10 weeks covering the following values:
- Emotional Control
The 10 week course is free of charge and includes a hot meal to be served at the end of each session, thanks to BOXWISE funding. The course is limited to just 15 places and signup is required. It is important that boxers understand the commitment to signing up and that they need to attend all 10 sessions. Training times are 5.30pm to 6.30pm in place of the regular Junior training session. Junior boxers who are not signed up to the BOXWISE course will need to attend training on Monday or Wednesday until the course has finished, after which they will be able to train on Fridays as usual.
The BOXWISE course is open to all regardless of whether you currently train at Roman Boxing Gym and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If you’re interested please contact us via our Facebook page and we’ll send you a form to complete. We need completed forms returned no later than 22nd April 2022 to secure your place.
Should BOXWISE prove popular in Bath there is potential to run an additional course for older ages groups as well. We will endeavour to host future courses outside regular training times to maximise the training we can offer.
