Secure Roman Boxing’s Future
We are raising £275,000 over the next two years to purchase the long lease of the premises we currently train in.
This is not a proposal for a future project or a plan for a new facility. The gym already exists, is fully fitted out, and is already operating every week as the home of our club. Purchasing the lease secures our ability to continue using it long term and gives Roman Boxing a permanent base in Bath for generations to come.
The lease has 360 years remaining and represents a genuine long term asset for the club and the local community. The decisions made over the next two years will shape the future of the club for centuries to come.
The total purchase price is £550,000. We are aiming to raise £275,000 ourselves through donations, fundraising and community support, with the remaining amount expected to come through borrowing and additional funding opportunities, including potential match funding.
This campaign is a once in a lifetime opportunity to secure the future of Roman Boxing in Bath. Every person who supports this campaign becomes part of something far bigger than a short term fundraiser. They become part of the story of securing a permanent home for boxing and community activity in Bath for generations of future members, coaches and local people.
Long after this fundraising campaign has ended, the building will continue to provide a place for people to train, improve their health, build confidence, develop discipline and form lasting friendships. Many of the people who benefit from this space in the future have not even been born yet.
Roman Boxing Gym was established on Boxing Day, 26th December 2018. Since then, the club has grown through hard work, consistency and the dedication of volunteers who believe in what boxing can do for people. Today, over 150 people train with us each week.
Everything we do is run by volunteers. No salaries are taken, and every pound raised goes directly back into the club and the people we support. Coaches, helpers and supporters all give their own time freely because they care deeply about boxing, the club, and the positive impact it has on people’s lives.
The club exists because people are willing to give their time, energy and experience for the benefit of others. Some of our coaches even choose to fund their own training and certification costs personally to help keep the club affordable and accessible for everyone.
For years, we have worked hard to keep participation costs low without compromising on quality, equipment or opportunities, and create an environment where anyone willing to train and be involved is welcome, regardless of background or experience.
Owning the premises we train in changes what is possible for the club. Instead of spending large amounts of member’s money on rent and dealing with the uncertainty that comes with temporary arrangements, we can focus our time, energy and resources on the people who use the gym.
A permanent home gives us stability, certainty and the ability to plan for the long term. It allows us to develop new activities, strengthen our work within the community, and continue building a club that people can rely on for years to come. By helping secure the building now, supporters are creating a lasting legacy that will continue serving the community for hundreds of years.
Most importantly, it protects something that already exists and is already making a difference.
