We need to raise £275,000 within the next two years in order to secure the future of Roman Boxing. This funding, alongside a proportion of short-term borrowing appropriate for the club’s proven level of income, will allow the charity to purchase the leasehold of our current premises which has 360 years remaining, before our rental agreement ends in 2028.

The funding will be used specifically towards the leasehold purchase and associated legal costs. The gym itself is already fully operational, fitted out and equipped by the club. This campaign is therefore not about creating a new facility from scratch, but about permanently securing a proven and established community asset that is already delivering impact within Bath.

Owning the leasehold will transform the long-term stability of the organisation. Instead of continuing to pay rent on a temporary basis, those outgoing costs can be reinvested directly back into the club, its programmes and the wider community. It will also provide the security needed to expand partnerships, increase activity and plan confidently for the future.

This is a one-time capital fundraising campaign rather than ongoing emergency fundraising. Once the building is secured, the gym will remain financially self-sustaining through membership and training income, supported by the club’s established volunteer base and growing community demand.

If we do not reach the required target by the end of the fundraising period, we will not be able to continue operating from the current venue beyond the end of the rental agreement and will need to review what alternative options may still be available at that time. However, all donations made towards this appeal will be protected as part of a restricted fund.

Restricted funds are legally protected under UK charity law and can only be used for the specific purpose they were raised for. This means donations made towards the building purchase cannot be redirected to unrelated activities or general running costs. If the purchase ultimately cannot proceed, the charity is required to manage those funds in accordance with charity law and return your donation. You can rest assured your donation will not be lost or wasted.

Should the campaign exceed its target, any additional funds will first be used in place of borrowing, then any remaining will be reinvested into improving accessibility within the facility, and expedite expanding the club’s community programmes helping ensure the gym can support as many people as soon as possible.
