About Roman Boxing Gym

Roman Boxing Gym is a registered charity and an England Boxing-affiliated club based at Bellotts Road in Bath. We are run entirely by volunteers, with no paid positions at the club. Founded on Boxing Day 2018, we’ve built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality boxing training to everyone from complete beginners to competitive athletes. While we count national and regional champions among our ranks, many of our members train for fitness, enjoyment, and the sense of community we’re proud to foster. We’re a welcoming, community-focused club with a supportive atmosphere, committed to helping people grow both inside and outside the ring. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and ambitious, with a passion for developing not only our boxers, but also the coaches who support them.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a creative and community-minded Volunteer Social Media Manager to take ownership of the club’s online presence. This includes managing our current Facebook and Instagram pages and helping us grow onto other platforms such as Bluesky, TikTok, and the Shorts feature on our existing YouTube channel. You’ll work closely with the coaching team to transform event reports, competition updates, and club news into engaging content that keeps our members and supporters informed and inspired.

This role would suit someone already working in social media or digital marketing, particularly in sport, fitness, or community engagement, who is looking to contribute their skills to a good cause with flexibility and creative freedom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the club’s social media accounts, with regular posting on Facebook and Instagram and future growth into other platforms
  • Create engaging content around club news, training sessions, competitions, events, and community stories
  • Work with the coaching team to gather information and material for posts, including photos, results, and updates
  • Suggest and develop new content formats such as short videos, behind-the-scenes clips, or boxer features
  • Track engagement and post performance using platform insights or free analytics tools
  • Help shape a consistent visual style and tone of voice across all platforms

Ideal Candidate

  • Has hands-on or professional experience in social media management, ideally in sport, fitness, or community settings
  • Comfortable writing copy and presenting content in a clear, engaging way
  • Has a genuine interest in amateur boxing, sport, or local community involvement
  • Reliable, creative, and able to work independently with guidance and support when needed
  • Able to commit to a steady rhythm of posting (about 2 to 3 times per week), with flexibility around events and club activities
  • Willing to complete safeguarding training and an enhanced DBS check, in line with England Boxing and club requirements

What We Offer

  • A friendly and welcoming club where you can apply and grow your digital skills
  • The opportunity to help shape how the club is seen and supported by our wider community
  • Access to club events, competitions, and training sessions for content creation
  • Involvement in club social activities such as meals out and trips to major boxing events like the Commonwealth Games and Paris Olympics
  • A meaningful volunteer role where your contribution will help raise the profile of the club and support our boxers and members
