The funds raised through this campaign will be used specifically towards the purchase of the leasehold of our current gym premises which has 360 years remaining, together with the associated legal and transaction costs required to complete the purchase.

This is not a general fundraising appeal or an attempt to cover day to day running costs. The purpose of the campaign is clear, specific and long term: to secure a permanent home for Roman Boxing and protect the club’s activities for generations to come.

All donations will be placed into a restricted fund, meaning the money can only legally be used for the purpose it was raised for. Under UK charity law, restricted funds cannot be diverted into unrelated expenditure or general operating costs. This provides reassurance that every contribution directly supports the leasehold purchase and the long-term security of the club.

The measurable difference this funding creates is substantial and immediate. Securing the building removes the uncertainty that has affected the club throughout its growth, allowing us to operate consistently, expand activities and for the first time plan long term. It turns a community facility already used by over 150 people every week into a protected charitable asset owned by the charity, not any individual, dedicated to delivering public benefit within Bath with the capacity to support significantly more in the future.

This funding creates a lasting impact rather than a short-term intervention. All contributions made today help secure community use of the building for more than 360 years. The long-term sustainability of the club does not depend on continued large-scale fundraising. Roman Boxing already operates successfully through membership and training income and does not rely on donations to cover normal day to day activities. In fact, the ongoing operating costs of the current premises will be significantly lower than the rental costs the club has previously experienced. This gives us confidence that the facility can sustain itself financially once the purchase is complete.

Securing the building also strengthens the club’s ability to attract future support for targeted improvements and community programmes. As a permanent charitable asset, the building will place the organisation in a far stronger position when applying for grants or programme funding linked to accessibility, community participation and charitable activities. National organisations and charitable partners already support boxing clubs across the country in developing specialist programmes and adapting facilities to better meet community needs, and where our local needs demand it, Roman Boxing will be able to access similar opportunities as the club continues to grow.

Most importantly, the funding secures stability. It ensures that the work already taking place in Bath can continue without interruption and gives the club the foundation needed to expand its positive impact across the community for centuries to come.
